Description
Ideal Industries #28 Stainless Steel Hose Clamp — 1-5/16″ to 2-1/4″ Clamping Range
Clamp larger-diameter marine hoses securely with this stainless steel worm-drive hose clamp from Ideal Industries. The #28 size covers a 1-5/16″ to 2-1/4″ (33–57mm) clamping range — the right fit for wet exhaust hose, fuel fill lines, raw water intake, bilge pump discharge, and other medium-to-large bore plumbing connections where corrosion resistance and reliable clamping force are essential.
Key Features
- Stainless Steel Band & Housing — Corrosion-resistant stainless steel construction withstands the salt, moisture, and heat exposure common in marine engine bays and bilge spaces
- Ideal Industries Quality — Ideal is a trusted North American manufacturer of worm-drive hose clamps used across marine, automotive, and industrial applications
- #28 Size — 1-5/16″ to 2-1/4″ Range — Fits hoses with an outside diameter between 1-5/16″ and 2-1/4″ (33–57mm); verify hose OD before ordering
- Worm-Drive Design — Positive screw-drive mechanism provides precise, adjustable clamping force across the full range of the clamp
- Smooth Inner Band — Smooth band interior minimizes hose abrasion and cutting under clamping pressure
- Wide Clamping Range — Covers a broad diameter span, making it versatile across multiple hose sizes within the #28 range

Hose Clamp Size Comparison
- ABA #8 — 5/8″ to 1″ — Small-bore: fuel vent, livewell, bilge intake (SKU ABA-13624)
- ABA #16 — 1-1/16″ to 1-1/2″ — Medium-bore: fuel fill, cooling, exhaust (SKU ABA-13638)
- Ideal #28 — 1-5/16″ to 2-1/4″ — Medium-large bore: wet exhaust, raw water, bilge discharge (this SKU — IDE-HAS28)
Always measure your hose outside diameter before selecting a clamp. The clamp range must fully encompass the hose OD with room to tighten.
Installation Notes
Double-clamp all below-waterline and fuel hose connections per ABYC H-27 and A-21 standards. Position clamps so the band fully covers the hose bead or fitting barb. Tighten to the fitting manufacturer’s torque specification — do not overtighten, which can cut or collapse the hose. Inspect annually for corrosion, loosening, or hose deterioration and replace as needed. Never substitute zinc-plated (non-marine) clamps in marine applications.
The IDE-HAS28 delivers reliable, corrosion-resistant clamping for the medium-to-large bore hose connections found throughout marine engine and plumbing systems.
