Description
Mercury / Quicksilver Stretch Belt Tool — 8M0146862
The Mercury Quicksilver 8M0146862 Stretch Belt Tool is a specialized OEM service tool designed to install single-use stretch alternator belts on late-model Mercury outboard engines. Instead of prying the belt on manually, this tool safely guides the belt onto the pulley while the engine is briefly “bumped” with the starter.
What It Does
Many newer Mercury outboards use stretch-fit alternator belts that do not use a tensioner. These belts must be stretched onto the pulley during installation.
This tool:
-
Hooks over the flywheel
-
Guides the belt onto the alternator pulley
-
Prevents belt damage or fraying
-
Allows one-hand installation
The design reduces installation time to a couple of minutes and avoids damage that can occur when using pry bars or screwdrivers.
Compatible Engines
Primarily used on late-model Mercury V-6 and V-8 FourStroke outboards, including:
3.4L V6 FourStroke
-
